Calling All Gamers!

Hey, more stories coming soon, and keep sending them in! If there are any gamers out there who are good at video game design, you need to make one where disgruntled employees can battle their bosses! All shapes, sizes, genders and kinds of bosses! I can't think of anyone who would not like to play a video game like that and blow off some steam. I sit and watch my kid play Halo, World of Warcraft and Call of Duty, and I just keep picturing my ex-boss getting blown up! Feels great!

D's Story

I just got out of a place where the office manager belonged to one of those churches where people roll around on the floor and speak in tongues! I am sorry, but that just seems like one step away from snake handling to me. She was also a racist homophobe. She would make racist comments all the time as if it were perfectly okay to do so. I could not stand to listen to it. All of this really made it feel like a hostile work environment for me. One time that really amazed me was when she complained about some books the school had sent home for her daughter to read. She stood up at the front counter talking to one nurse who is her buddy, and the receptionist. There was apparently a book her husband threw a fit about that was about a young African American girl, and there was some Ebonics in it, and he refused to let his daughter read it, stating “We speak proper English in this house.” First, there are whole bunch of people in England that would dispute that assertion, and second, if the book had some Appalachian slang in it, I really doubt they would have disapproved. Then she started talking about a book called “Martina, the Beautiful Cockroach.” It is about a young Cuban cockroach who has reached the age of marriage. Among the suitors are a rooster, a pig, a lizard, and a mouse. She was outraged, and said she would not let her daughter read this because (and I am quoting her word for word) “That teaches my daughter that it is okay to marry outside her own race, and that is just wrong!” I looked at her, and I think my jaw just about hit the floor. What that really makes this stand out in my mind is the fact that the receptionist she was talking to has a husband of a different race and 2 biracial children, and the nurse has a biracial child from her first marriage. I still can't quite believe that she said that, and did not think anything of it. I know the receptionist was very offended by it, I can't speak for the nurse. I found it incredibly offensive to even have to hear it. One of her bosses, also very "religious" decided we would have bible study at lunch every few weeks. Of course we were told it was voluntary, but we felt like we HAD to go. He was also one of the first to complain about having to deal with poor people. Biggest bunch of hypocrites I have ever seen!

E's Beezleboss Story:

During my performance review, my boss said, "You are not doing anything wrong that I can name, there is just something about you that I can't really describe, but it is keeping me from feeling like you deserve a raise." I later left that job when, as an hourly employee, I was working 12-14 hour days every day with no days off. This includes Saturday and Sunday. Sometimes they would "forget" to pay me overtime and then make me wait until the next paycheck to get it. The last time was the last straw, when I complained AGAIN that they had forgotten to calculate in overtime, my boss yelled at me in front of everyone that I worried too much about my pay and not enough about my job. I quit on the spot. I later found out that they replaced me with 4 people! And I now have a job making more than my ex-boss! Karma.

J's Beelzeboss Story

Okay, first email! Here is J's story:

I report to both a male manager and a female vice president. The manager is determined to move ahead at all costs. He has the VP wrapped around his finger. They are very chummy with each other, often touching each other during meetings or when talking, and go on long lunches together, or go into her office for hours with the door closed. If there is business travel for our department, they insist on going together. Everyone thought they were having an affair, even though the VP is married. Imagine our surprise one day when the VP called us into her office and told us all that they had been having an affair in the past, but that was over, and he would still be remaining in the manager position. I guess they heard about the rumors, and wanted them to stop. Everything went back to the usual drill, and they are not fooling anyone.

I am the only employee this manager supervises. He is constantly criticizing my work even though I have years of experience and I am praised by other departments. The VP backs him up on everything. He is condescending to me, lies to me, steals my ideas and presents them as his own; and even lied to me about the position I was hired for. I was told I would be a Marketing Assistant. Two weeks after I was hired, there was a memo sent around that all secretaries would be back-ups to the phone receptionist, and the memo listed my name as a secretary. When I told both him and the VP that there was an error, they said they did not have a slot for a Marketing Assistant, and that I was a secretary. When I explained that I had been told I was being hired as a Marketing Assistant and if they had told me it would be a secretary position, I would not have taken the job, their response was if I didn't like it, I could leave. I had to stay for now, as I need the money, but I am spending all my spare time looking for another position.

Beelzeboss Storieshttp://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=3845667540028035057

Okay, me first. I worked for a bipolar Beelzeboss from Heck! You can't imagine working everyday with this micromanaging, computer illiterate moron, who had no idea what she was doing, and know that she was probably making twice as much as I did. By the time I left this job, the sound of her whiny, nasal voice would actually trigger a vomit response! I had to hold it back. It was like fingernails on a chalkboard. And of course, she had her bosses totally fooled. I will say this for her, she was absolutely the best backside-kisser I have ever seen! It was an art form with her. But that was about the only talent she had. I have to say, when everyone working under a manager hates her, and they are all looking for other jobs, you have a management problem! We could always tell when she was having problems in her marriage, because her mood swings would get much worse, and she would snap our heads off every chance she got. I actually feel sorry for the people that are left there, they still have to see her everyday! I guess getting fired by this idiot is actually more of a compliment, I would have been more bothered if it had actually been by someone competent. So let's raise a glass to the Beelzebosses, may they all roast in Heck!
